Versatile and durable February 3, 2005 Reviewer:  Krystal Roth (Chattanooga, TN)  See all my reviews >

We purchased this gate for an odd sized opening, because it is expandable. It attaches to both sides of the opening so you open it on either side. We have the gate in a very high traffic opening, and it is not only easy to open and close, but has stood up to the bigger kids going in out. In the evening when the kids go to sleep, we simply unlatch both sides and set it off to the side. I love it so much, I'm buying 2 more to replace those pitiful pressure mounted gates we have. Works well to keep the dog contained from the baby area also. Quality, durable product. I definitely recommend it. Target is the only place I have found this gate.

great gate for pets November 18, 2007 Reviewer:  biologrady (Long Island, ny)  See all my reviews >

This gate has been a fixture in my kitchen since my girls were babies. We use it to keep pets and kids separate when necessary, or to keep the dog in the kitchen when we go out. If folds very nicely out of the way, and we really needed one for wide spaces. I'm here today to buy a second one for a different doorway. However, there are certainly some caveats with this gate:
1) could be dangerous for a baby who is a climber
2) can (and has) pinched little fingers if they fold it back themselves (no major harm done, and they learn to only do that once!)
3) I find it easy to open and close with one hand, a major plus, but my eight-year old can't quite get the hand strength to do it, so I sometimes have to stop what I am doing to open and close gates for the kids
4)my dog respects the gate, but a really large/determined one could probably shove hard enough to pull the hardware out of the woodwork

Don't waste your money! March 8, 2006 Reviewer:  Mama Bee (San Francisco)  See all my reviews >

This gate is terrible. I wanted a natural wood gate but soon realized that looks aren't what's important here - it's safety. We had this gate for only one week and quickly realized we needed something better. We purchased the First Years hands free gate and LOVE it. It's so much better. Please, don't waste your money on this one.

Don't waste your money October 30, 2009 Reviewer:  lil man's mom See all my reviews >

We bought this gate to fit a 48 inch space. At first it seemed pretty sturdy, but within a week it started to come out of the wall ( and yes it was put into a stud). Secondly my son figured out how to open it and the top is sharp. So obviously we returned it and got something much better.

Good gate... not for fast learners January 4, 2009 Reviewer:  Mommy Love See all my reviews >

I purchased this gate looking for something to fit a 6' space. It worked wonderfully at first, but he quickly learned to climb it. Soon after he noticed how we were opening it and started pulling on it. He has now ripped the hardware out of the wall and we are needing another kind of gate.

This is cheap, flimsy, scrapes up my floor, and worst of all- my toddler can OPEN it!

Very flexible and useable! December 15, 2008 Reviewer:  Tom's Grammy "Gram" (No. Arizona, USA)  See all my reviews >

we have 3 of these gates and use them everywhere in our house for both the pets and the grandbaby. we have installed the "o" hooks in many different locations and just move the gates where we need them. we also have pressure gates which are great for small pets and small children, but once they can pull and push, we had to stop using those gates. we have had these eye and hook latching gates for years and just think they are terrific!

Cheap August 31, 2008 Reviewer:  Evan's mom See all my reviews >

This gate was very cheap looking. (I don't know why I got it because it looks cheap even in the picture). It was the right size for my extra wide hallway entrance, but the quality was horrible. It came with almost NO instructions, and my husband broke it trying to figure out how to open it. We returned it, but haven't found another gate yet! :(

This gate can pinch...ouch! July 23, 2008 Reviewer:  Amy B. Webster "mom to a 1 and 2 year old" Real Name (Tulsa, OK)  See all my reviews >

Be careful when you are sliding this gate open. I was opening the gate and my 2 year old daughter and 14 month old daughter grabbed on to it, causing their fingers to get pinched pretty bad. My 2 year old just learned to climb over it, which means I have to replace it with a different design. It worked okay up until now but you may want to consider a design with bars that don't cross so that your toddler can't climb over it so easily.
